The Franklin Police Department said a 12-year-old girl at the center of an Amber Alert was found alive and safe Saturday afternoon in Baytown.
On Friday, an alert was issued for Addison Alvarez from Franklin, Texas, about 40 miles north of College Station.
She was last seen Friday at about 11 p.m., but by Saturday afternoon, police said she had been found more than 150 miles away from where she had been last seen.
Franklin police said they responded to the 500 block of North Main Street on Saturday after the missing child report. There, they met with Addison’s biological mother who said the girl had gone to bed about an hour prior.
Police said the mother told them that when she went to put another child to bed, she realized Addison was no longer in the room and a window was open.
After some investigation, police said they were also looking for 35-year-old Melissa Renee Salazar in connection with the girl’s abduction. It was unclear if Salazar was found at the time Addison was located.

The Amber Alert system, used in all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, was created in 1996. It stands for America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response and was created as a legacy to 9-year-old Amber Hagerman, who was kidnapped while riding her bike in Arlington, Texas, and later murdered.
