Another inmate has died in the Harris County Jail, the sheriff’s office announced on Monday night.
Based on previous reporting, this is the 15th in-custody death at the jail so far this year.
There is not a lot of information about what exactly happened to the inmate, who she is, or why she was in jail in the first place. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office only said a female inmate was confirmed deceased by medical staff.
The investigation into her death is ongoing, HCSO said.

The woman was reportedly incarcerated at the 1200 Baker Street facility.
After previous inmate deaths, officials said state law requires an outside agency to conduct the investigation.
Last year, a record of 27 inmates died in custody.
In response, the Harris County commissioners recently approved millions of dollars to improve conditions at the jail.
