Final Four festivities continued Saturday morning, starting with the Final Four 4-Miler race in downtown Houston.

The race began at 8:30 a.m. at City Hall, located at 901 Bagby St.

Runners started on Walker Street, then Louisiana Street, and eventually made their way down Allen Parkway until they hit Waugh Drive.

They made a U-turn and finished the race where it began at City Hall.

If you will be out and about Saturday morning, keep in mind those roads will be closed for the race.

Helicopter video shows runners taking part in the race, which gives a portion of proceeds to the non-profit Girls on the Run Greater Houston Chapter.

As people reached the finish line, they got a t-shirt, a medal, and an entry to the Men’s Final Four Fan Fest.

Reporters spoke with people who were excited to be at the race, some of which were there to run with friends.

Women who are a part of Black Girls Run told reporters they’re excited to welcome all of the visitors to Houston for the Final Four.

“The city is vibrant and beautiful. We get a bad rap from time to time, but this city is beautiful. We have markets. We have the Astros, the champs. We have the Texans. We have a lot here to experience. Downtown has been revitalized,” Pamela Williams, who participated in the race, said.

Although this was a fun run, the runners really showed off Saturday morning.

Eyewitness News also spoke to the winner, Tyler Lyon, right after he finished running four miles, in according to his watch, 21 minutes and 44 seconds.

Lyon said he is visiting from Connecticut to cheer on UConn. He got the win and said he’s hoping his huskies can do the same Saturday when they face the Univeristy of Miami.

“It was a lot of fun! I was kind of scared of the heat and humidity. I’m from Connecticut, so I’m not acclimated to it,” Lyon said. “I was a little conservative for the first couple of miles. But then, conservative became normal and became a little hard. I think I was happy with the effort and obviously to finish first.”
