Detectives say an argument led to an exchange of gunfire in the middle of a west Houston neighborhood near The Galleria on Tuesday night.
A 23-year-old man who was caught in the crossfire is dead and at least two suspects are on the run, according to Houston police.
Police said multiple shots were fired just before 9 p.m. at 5600 Fairdale Lane, near Chimney Rock Road. When officers arrived, they found a man dead.
HPD said a large crowd was gathered at a pool party when an argument broke out between two people.
Both people fired guns during the argument and the victim was struck in the crossfire, investigators said.
The man attempted to run away from the scene, but collapsed and was pronounced dead when officials arrived.
Police said everyone scattered after shots were fired — either running or driving away from the scene.
The victim may have been inside or near a car when the shots were fired, investigators said.
“This Corvette behind me has multiple bullet holes in it. There’s also some blood in there. We think it’s related to the victim, but we’re not sure yet,” Lt. Larry Crowson said.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or speak anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
Tuesday night’s shooting happened just a three minute drive away from where a mass shooting unfolded Sunday morning in the parking lot of Tabú Restaurant and Lounge.
In total, 6 people were shot.
