A widow is grieving after her husband was killed in a shooting that escalated from a minor car crash in northwest Houston, police said.

Christopher Pete Santos, 21, is charged with murder and set to make his initial appearance in probable cause court Thursday night.

Surveillance video shows that at about 6:18 p.m. Wednesday, Santos and another couple got into a minor fender bender at the 5600 block of Antoine. The widow told ABC13 that she was driving when she hit Santos. The video shows the couple getting out and everyone speaking for several minutes.

About five minutes after the initial fender bender, one of the people appears agitated, and the other man falls to the ground. Police say that’s when Santos shot the husband.

At the scene, police found two vehicles on the road. The victim was also found dead with multiple gunshot wounds.

Santos did not run. Witnesses say he waited for police. HPD says he was detained, and the weapon he used was also recovered.

Santos is expected to appear in probable cause court on Thursday at 7 p.m.
