A woman shot and killed a man as he tried to come into her trailer home in the Spring Branch area, according to police.
Houston police were called to the trailer home in the 1700 block of Jaquelyn Drive at 7:15 a.m. Friday in response to a shooting.
The woman told police that she fired a gun in self-defense as she tried to stop a man from coming into her trailer home.
HPD said the man and woman had just recently met when he moved into the RV park. Investigators said they do not believe they were in a romantic relationship.
“We’re not sure what his motive was for trying to go in there,” Sgt. Ross Watson said. “It looks like he was trying to come in, and she was trying to not let him in. So, not necessarily breaking the door down.”
Investigators said it doesn’t look like the man was armed. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The case will be presented to a Harris County Grand Jury to decide if charges will be filed.
HPD said it’s unclear how many times the man was shot. The investigation is ongoing.
“It does appear, from everything we’ve seen, that the scene here is consistent with her statement that he was in front of the door, at the door, basically,” Watson said.
