A chase suspect has been arrested after being holed up inside a vehicle surrounded by deputies in west Harris County Thursday morning.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said the standoff happened after 8 a.m. in the 1300 block of Westgreen, just off the Katy Freeway.
HCSO Asst. Chief Tommy Diaz said deputies initially responded to a different location involving a terroristic threat against the suspect’s ex-wife.
The suspect allegedly took out a gun there and threatened his ex-wife’s life before deputies could arrive.
Diaz said deputies then searched the area for the suspect’s vehicle and found it in a retail parking lot.

When attempting to make a traffic stop, the suspect reportedly took off, ensuing a brief chase.
“At that point, he also displayed a weapon, and our deputies pursued the vehicle to here at Westgreen and I-10,” Diaz said.
Diaz said the suspect crashed into a water main, impacting two nearby businesses, took out a gun again, and pointed it at deputies.
One deputy reportedly fired at the suspect in the vehicle, but he was not hit. Officials said tactical teams were then called to try to get the suspect to surrender.
“He refused to talk to us. He was threatening, yelling obscenities and things of that nature,” Diaz said.
The suspect allegedly took out his weapon once again and pointed it at deputies, who then fired.
Deputies nor the suspects were injured, according to Diaz.
The suspect was barricaded inside the crashed vehicle for about 20 minutes before deputies announced he was taken into custody.
Diaz said the suspect has had issues involving his ex-wife in the past and that they had filed a terroristic threat charge from an incident the night before.
