A woman from the Houston area has been arrested and charged with the murder of her fiancé, Nathan Freeman, after allegedly stabbing him to death while their two children were in the apartment.

Liliana Cervantes, aged 25, and Freeman, aged 32, had been together for two years and were due to get married in the fall.

Freeman’s mother reported that the couple had seemed happy, and she was shocked to learn of her son’s death.

According to the police report, Cervantes claimed to have blacked out during the stabbing and only regained consciousness when she was splashed with water.

The investigation found bloody footprints and at least one sharp-edged object in the kitchen. Cervantes is in custody on a $150,000 bond, and Freeman’s mother is fighting for custody of her granddaughter.

A GoFundMe account has been established to assist with Freeman’s funeral expenses.
